The NPPE,
explained
Ontario exam prep: original scenario questions on ethics, law and professional practice, with the reasoning behind all four answers.
At PrairieSpan Design Group, a CAD manager asks Isabella Romano, P.Eng., to place a high-resolution image of her seal and signature in a shared folder so project coordinators can apply it to final drawings when she is away.

Every wrong answer, explained
After you answer, each of the other three options shows why it falls short, and the explanation names the PEO or NPPE page it rests on.
How fast do you answer?
100of 110 questions
The NPPE allows 150 minutes for 110 questions, about 82 seconds each. At 90 seconds a question, time is called as you reach question 100.
Built on the blueprint
Every question belongs to one of the six areas the official NPPE blueprint lists, and your progress is tracked the same way.
How sure are you?
Confidence
Say how sure you are before the answer shows, so lucky guesses stand out.

Judgement,
not arithmetic

29 August 1907
The south arm of the Quebec Bridge fell into the St. Lawrence during construction. Of the 86 workers on it, 75 were killed. The Royal Commission traced the failure to “errors in judgment” by the two engineers in charge, and to loose supervision.
What the exam asks
Most NPPE questions are not about numbers. They ask what a licensed engineer should do next: who to tell, what to put in writing, when to refuse. That is what every question here practises.
Who built it
Damian Mattey, P.Eng.. Every explanation names the PEO or NPPE page it rests on, so you can check the reasoning instead of taking it on trust. Look up the licence.

Before you start
Are these real NPPE questions?
No. Real exam questions are confidential, and this is an independent study product, not affiliated with PEO, the NPPE or Engineers Canada. Every question is an original scenario written for this bank, following the public blueprint and pointing to PEO's own pages.
How many questions are there?
40 today: 15 professional practice, 8 ethics, 6 law for practice, 5 professional law, 4 professionalism, 2 regulation and discipline. New questions are added as they pass review.
Is it only for Ontario?
The questions are written for Ontario candidates and cite PEO's Code of Ethics and regulations. The NPPE itself is a national exam, so most of the reasoning carries to other provinces, but local rules differ.
What is the exam like on the day?
110 multiple-choice questions in 2.5 hours, closed book. 100 are scored and 10 are experimental, and you cannot tell which. There is no penalty for guessing, so never leave one blank.
Will this get me a pass?
No study product can promise that, and we don't publish a pass rate. What this does is show you where your judgement is weakest, area by area, so you know what to read next.
Do I need an account?
No. Practice works straight away, and your answers, flags and mock exams are saved in your browser.
